Richard Wagner possesses more than 40 years of experience in launching new products and plants, as well as creating turnaround miracles for over-budget plants.
Richard is a results-oriented leader with an exceptional track record of building and improving manufacturing sites around the world. He has advised executive and on-site teams to address operational issues and built a reputation for consistently delivering solutions and programs that helped them return to efficient, profitable performance. Richard has served hundreds of clients around the world and across multiple industries including Tier One automotive OEMs, aerospace manufacturers, and consumer product manufacturers.
Prior to joining Cornerstone Consulting, Richard was the Principal Owner and Lead Consultant for a firm offering customized operations and quality improvement solutions and industrial engineering services. In this role, he designed processes to ensure quality excellence from concept to consumer while solving manufacturing issues and bolstering profitability. For example, Richard directed a $4.3 million paint project at a power train plant, leveraged lean principles to generate a four-wall cost reduction across five plants, and utilized Six Sigma lean processes to improve the bottom line and streamline material flow.
Additionally, Richard spent nearly 30 years with the Ford Motor Company, serving as Plant Manager in five assembly plants across four different countries. As Plant Manager, he managed all manufacturing and engineering activities, negotiated incentive packages with multilabel states and countries, and held complete responsibility for the launch and re-launch of a variety of highly anticipated new models.
A few of Richard’s notable achievements at Ford include improving the budget by $18 million at Ford’s highest-producing quality stamping facility in Ohio, increasing production by 20% and exceeding quality targets for Ford and Aston Martin in England, implementing a formalized quality system at stamping plant in Dearborn, and reinforcing the relationship between Ford and UAW.
Wagner’s impressive accomplishments over the course of his career have not gone unnoticed. While at Ford, he received the prestigious President’s Award for Quality. Plus, multiple facilities he managed were also recognized with the Most Improved Plant Safety and Productivity Award. Additionally, he was named the “2018 Professional of the Year in Manufacturing” by Strathmore’s Who’s Who.
Wagner is an IASSC Certified Learn Six Sigma Green BeltTM. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Roles and Responsibilities in Leadership at Central Michigan University.
